Giving Goals will be retired on February 15, 2021. You can read more about why we made this decision in this blogpost.
Whether you had set a Giving Goal spanning across 2020 to 2021 or you had created new Goals at the turn of the new year, we would unfortunately not be able to maintain this feature after February 15.
Instead, here are some suggested workarounds so that you can still rally your team or network around your Giving Goal:
1. Broaden the goal
Instead of setting a goal towards a specific project, you may wish to broaden the goal by considering setting a target for the number of impacts contributed towards a specific Sustainable Development Goal or simply for the overall number of impacts your business creates this year.
If you embed giving in your everyday activities through the use of Giving Stories, you can also consider setting targets for the number of impacts created through each Giving Story.
As the impacts for each Giving Story and SDG, as well as the overall impact figure, are visibly tracked with the new B1G1 system, it would still be relatively easy for you to display your giving progress throughout the year, and to rally others towards achieving a common impact milestone.
2. Set up your own goal tracker
If you would still prefer to set a goal for a specific project, you can set up your own goal tracker using your favorite note-taking or spreadsheet tool.
In the new B1G1 system, you can easily export your contribution records as a CSV file from the Impact History page. With some filtering and manipulation of the data, you would be able to calculate the number of impacts created for a certain project over time, and therefore monitor your progress towards your giving goal.
3. Take the opportunity to get creative
Since the Giving Goal feature is not going to stay, you no longer need to be confined to crafting a goal to create a fixed number of impacts towards a specific project. Instead, you can take a step back and think about what type of giving goals you can set for your business that would be in line with your business' growth direction and aspirations.
For example, you may wish to set a goal around the number of team members engaged in giving each month, the number of projects or countries that your business give towards, or even the number of clients or customers impacted through the giving that you do.
We'd love to see what goals you might come up with!
